How to Attach Italian Charms Together Italian Charms are modular links. On the left side of each charm is a hook. On the right side is a visible bar. The charm you want to attach should be in your right hand. You slide this charm to the left, with your thumb and forefinger (of right hand), hold the charm in your left hand (that you are attaching it to) in an open postion with your left thumb and first finger. Take your thumb nail (or pad), and slide the new charm to the left, to open up the hook. Then place the charm in your right hand on top of the bar to attach. You do have to hold the charms tightly, no twisting. The charm on the right lifts on and off in an up and down motion. The Charm Key or Charm Tool work great as an extra hand.
